A natural landscape, a natural beauty that satisfies the eye, a well-kept lodging that makes you feel at home and hospitable people, with open arms: you will find everything and discover even more by choosing Stork Apartments & Studios, in Vivari of Argolis, for your stay.
With the car windows wide open, I drive through the bends of the coastal road towards Vivari, one of the most picturesque spots on the map of the Peloponnese. The sun is casting its glistening rays over the sea, a sailboat is just entering the harbor and the children's voices of the little bathers are like a melody in my ears.

In the courtyard of paradise
Just 90 m from the beach and a few meters from the church of Prophet Elias, I arrive at Stork to meet this famous "stork", about which I have heard and read so many positive comments. I open its patio door - with the stork drawn on it - and enter a world of paradise! The courtyard is lush green, draped with lawn, on the left a colourful playground with a little house, slide and toys for the little visitors, on the right a summer lounge with a table and chairs to enjoy your coffee under the shade of the trees.

The plans of the past, the dreams of the present
The owners of Stork, George and Eleni Traka, welcome me with a big smile, as if we have known each other for a long time, and open their home to me for coffee and a chat on the veranda. The view is lost in the generous view of the mountain and the lagoon of Vivari and reaches all the way to the wonderful beach of Agios Nikolaos or Kondyli in the distance. In this ideal location, in the once fishing village, once called Divari -as George tells me- almost 40 years ago, his parents decided to create a hospitality area. A very innovative idea and action for that time, when tourism had not yet reached Vivari. And -as it turned out- a very prophetic decision, as the former fishing village, over the years, became a favorite holiday destination, while maintaining its picturesque character. It is very interesting to have a conversation with George and Eleni, about the evolution of tourism over the years, but also about their ideas and dreams to bring new air and breath to their already successful accommodation.

A home from home
But now it's time to see the ground floor and the two floors where the friendly and helpful couple welcome their guests. The 10 spacious 52 sq m apartments, some with one and some with two bedrooms, have obviously been completely renovated - "we've been renovating for the last five years," the owners tell me. Their aesthetic is modern and intimate, and the decor is abstract, with earthy tones that evoke relaxation and tranquillity, and decorative details such as paintings that add a pleasant touch of color.
In the bedrooms, the beds are well made with fragrant sheets and fluffy towels folded on top, waiting for guests to arrive. The new anatomical mattresses are also ready for a restful, refreshing sleep. The bathrooms are modern with attention to detail and the kitchens are spacious and fully equipped to prepare breakfast or the rest of the day's meals. I think staying here you have everything you need to feel at home.
Set in such a beautiful natural environment, with a lovely courtyard and view in front and a tangerine orchard at the back, each apartment of Stork could not but have its own balcony, with table and chairs, for unique moments of relaxation.
When it's time for me to leave, I go downstairs with George and Eleni, to the ground floor of the courtyard, where a three-year-old boy is happily playing on the grass and in the beautiful playground, until his mother and father take him by the hand to go to the farm across the road to feed a donkey. A few minutes later, a young couple emerge from their room and exchange a few friendly words with the owners before leaving for Epidaurus, where they have booked tickets for a performance.
Saying goodbye to Stork and its wonderful people, Eleni puts some figs in my hand. It is these small acts of kindness, which to Helen herself may be self-evident, and yet in you they count for a lot and win you over. It is no coincidence that those who come to Stork come back again and again, because they know that they will have a good time here, in an extremely friendly and homely environment.
Getting into the car I am thinking, that the name Stork that George's parents came up with in the 80's from a decorative clay stork was truly inspired. The stork, as it feeds its young in its mouth, has always been associated with family life. And if I had to end this text with just one word, it would certainly be 'family', with all the positive qualities it implies. See you soon, George and Helen!

Did you know that?
Vivari means "a sea area properly fenced and used as a fish farm" and "a reed enclosure in a lagoon opening".
If you're planning your wedding, Stork has the perfect room for the bride's preparation, and the property can accommodate your guests.
The Stork becomes the ideal base for your walks in Nafplio (just a fifteen-minute drive), but also for your visits to archaeological sites such as Mycenae, ancient Nemea, the Asclepius of Epidaurus.
If you are a theatre lover and attend the performances in ancient Epidaurus (just half an hour's drive from Vivari), stay here to spend a two or three days combining the performance with diving and eating in the picturesque tavernas.
