Palamidi  is one of the most beautiful castles in Greece and the largest and best preserved fortress complex of the Venetian occupation. It was completed almost in no time (1711 - 1714), making the fortification of the fortress a real achievement, both in terms of fortification, as well in terms of speed of construction.
The grounds of Palamidi and Akronafplia are protected Natura 2000 habitat, in an area of 3.7 sq.km.
