Palamidi castle - Nafplio and its prisons, August 13th &14th 2021

Acronauplia castle, Nafplio castles, κάστρα του Ναυπλίου, Ακροναυπλία κάστρο

"Human monuments of modern history", a documentary about the prisons of Nafplio, is presented at the Fortress of Palamidi, in the Bastion of St. Andrew -site of the first prisons after the liberation from the Ottomans- conceived, dramatized and directed by Giassemi Kilaidonis.

Nafplio, a city with a long and rich history, is continuously and uninterruptedly inhabited from prehistorical times until today and lives completely connected to its historic past... The play is based on testimonies of prisoners, historical and literary texts, all of which dramatized will be presented for the first time on stage.
The texts record the lives of prisoners, capturing pieces of modern history, as they cover a long period of time, from 1830 to 1970. Traditional and "rebetika" songs will be heard live. The spectacle is completed by projections of rare photographic material and engravings.
