7th Nafplio Marathon, November 29th 2020
The new date of the Nafplio Marathon was announced, on Sunday, November 29th 2020. However unfortunately, the Organizing Committee, taking into account the state's instructions for the COVID-19 pandemic, finally decided to cancel the large athletic events of Nafplio for the year 2020.
For the history, on Sunday, March 8th 2020, the 7th Nafplio Marathon was programmed to take place in the city of Nafplio. This is one of the largest and most massive events in our country involving runners and walkers from Greece and abroad, also aiming to promote the city of Nafplio, as an athletic, social and touristic destination with a friendly approach to the quality of life and environment. Especially this year, it was thematically dedicated to the Woman (March 8th is the International Women's Day).
The Organizing Committee, chaired by the Mayor of Nafplio Mr. Dimitris Kostouros, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and with a sensitivity towards the community as a whole, out of respect to the visitors, thousands of whom were expected to participate in the Nafplio Marathon, has announced on March 3rd the postponement of the Marathon running and parallel events, scheduled from 6th to 8th of March 2020. A latest announcement by the Organizing Committee has informed us on the new date (November 29th 2020) and the re-planning of the Nafplio Marathon events.
The Nafplio Marathon is a high-quality sporting event and at the same time a pioneering production, that has created a multisided social event with a variety of actions and programs that promote health, education and culture!
Actually this year, the Organizing Committee announces its cooperation with the Hellenic National Defence' General Staff (ΓΕΕΘΑ - ΑΣΑΕΔ), according to which on March 8th 2020 in Nafplio, alongside with the other racing events of Nafplio Marathon, there will be also held a Military Half Marathon.
