On Monday, July 26th 2021, the famous Greek singer Alkistis Protopsalti gives us a special concert from the port of Nafplio. She honors great Greek classical poets -works put to music by great composers- but also contemporary songwriters and creates a colorful musical painting, with colors from the past and the present, with her lovely voice as a connecting link.
Completing 200 years since the revolution of 1821, in a landmark year for the country, the three cities that starred in the signing of the founding act of the new Greek state, Aegina, Nafplio and Athens join forces and send us a great message : to listen to what the past has to tell us and to look to our national future with optimism.
The three cities in succession, taking the baton of history and with a vision to be the beginning of a permanent forum for cooperation among the three cities, organize together a musical relay race. On Friday, July 23rd, famous singers Dimitra Galani and Michalis Hatzigiannis collaborate and welcome us with their songs in Aegina. On Monday, July 26th, the stage of Nafplio will be taken over by Alkistis Protopsalti, while this special event will end -also on July 23rd- in Athens "Technopolis" with Eleftheria Arvanitaki. So for two nights, three important cities, Aegina, Nafplio and Athens, celebrate together, with a special musical relay and four leading artists, the 200 years of the Greek revolution…
Specifically, Alkistis Protopsalti from the port of Nafplio, with her unique expression, this time makes a reference to the Nobel Prize winner Odysseas Elytis, as well us to Seferis, Ritsos, Palamas, and offers us favorite songs that elevate the soul, in lyrics by Nikos Gatsos, Lina Nikolakopoulou, Michalis Ghanas, Aris Davarakis and others. Therefore, from Nafplio we will enjoy a different artistic approach, a unique musical - interpretive celebration, accompanied by excellent musicians, along with orchestration by Thomas Kontogeorgis.
