4th Nafplio Castle Run, November 25th 2018

The Nafplio Castle Run (in greek "Palamedios Athlos") is a distinctive sporting event, as it includes the unique race in Greece with a racing Castle climb! The Nafplio Castle Run is part of the city's celebrations for the conquest of Palamidi fortress by the heroes of the Greek Revolution and the liberation of the city from the Turkish yoke.

On Sunday, November 25th 2018, the Nafplio Castle Run will take place for the fourth consecutive year, with the slogan "Challenge your limits!". The event includes the unique experience of the racing climb on the castle of Palamidi, which counts 999 steps (850 m. with ascent), and then combined with the descent from the castle using the asphalt road of 4,150 km., forming a single race of 5km.
The start and finish of all races will take place in the designated area at the entrance of the Castle on "March 25th" street, where all the supporting administrative services of the Event will be located.

Races
- Nafplio Castle Run, 5km racing rise on Palamidi Castle
- Running Race of 10km, with the certification of the Athletics Federation (SEGAS) and AIMS
- Running Race of 3km for all and of 1,5km, exclusively for the pupils of 4th, 5th and 6th Classes of Primary Schools.

Registrations
The registration period began on November 1st and lasts until November 19th 2018.
There are the following ways of registration:
-  Online registration
- In person, at the Offices of the Organizing Committee at the Nafplion Indoor Swimming Pool facilities (1, N. Kiou Street, DOPATT of Nafplio Municipality, tel: +30 27520-99085, fax: +30 27520-23288), from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 15:00.
- Upon availability, at the Registration Center that will operate at "Fougaro", on Friday, November 23rd from 11:00 to 19:00 and on Saturday, November 24th from 11:00 to 19:00.

Did you know that?
During Athens Authentic Marathon opening ceremony, a delegation of the Organizing Committee of Nafplio Castle Run & Nafplio Marathon, received the Marathon Flame. The Marathon Flame traveled to Nafplio, where with an exquisite Torch Relay on the previous day, the Flame will climb step by step on Palamidi Castle, in order to light the altar and to mark the opening of the Nafplio Castle Run Event. The march of the Torchbearers starts at 16:30 from "Fougaro". When the last torchbearer reaches the peak of the Castle at 17:45, the altar lights on, the Castle lights turn off and lit lanterns are left to fly to the sky from the coastal front of the city, in front of Filellinon Square!
Every year, participants have the opportunity to fill with energy and ...carbohydrates at Pasta Party, which takes place in "Fougaro" with a symbolic subscription. Immediately after the Pasta Party, a musical event follows. The Pasta Party will take place on Saturday, November 24th at 18:30.

Tip
There will be a timing mat at the castle exit to record your performance on the running ascent of the 999 stairs!
Not only will you have the opportunity to visit the exceptionally beautiful town of Nafplio, the Acronafplia fortress, the Bourtzi and Palamidi fortresses and to work out, but the "Nafplio Castle Run" has prepared for you -besides the unique racing Program- a weekend full of events, which will take place in the beautiful "Fougaro" facilities.
