Arvanitia - Karathona
The "ballad" of the hiker
Did the fish you had by the beach fall heavily on the stomach? There is an economical and at the same time fun solution.
With the proper clothing (and shoes), starting from the square of Arvanitia beach, the flag falls. Your destination on the left is Karathona beach -which has been awarded a blue flag- at a distance of about 3 km.
Return to nature
Before us a wonderful trail unfolds, that goes along the coast, with a breathtaking view. Frequent changes of vegetation and landscape do not let you get bored. Crossing paths, you will meet people of all ages. Parents or grandparents with grandchildren, couples, friends who want share a refreshing, rejuvenating walk together, dare to do so especially on the weekend. The route is suitable for lovers of hiking and jogging, but also for the animals, who also need to escape from the couch and the balcony of the house.
One stop here…
If you get tired, no problem. Many benches are waiting for you to rest. And after catching your breath, you can also train your abs, since there are also outdoors fitness equipment. The only difficult point is an uphill on the way back, but a good hiker, having "recharged his batteries", will continue fearless.
A small fishing boat departs...
Yet, if you are a fan of fishing, you can take your fishing rod or even the speargun and fish in the small creeks, that you meet along or at the end of the route. The low vegetation alternates with the steep rocks and suddenly in front of us extends the bay of Karathona. Go down to the beach and, if the weather allows, take a swim. If you have time, let the dusk find you and enjoy the sunset, filling your soul and mind with colorful images.
The returning time...
Take the road back. Keep some of your strength (for the uphill we mentioned) and if possible, adopt walking in your daily routine, making it a way of life.
This route can alternatively be done by bicycle.
Did you know that?
This is the favorite track of all locals, all hours of the day, whether walking, jogging, cycling, a promenade with children or with friends.
