Nafplio old town - Group exhibition for the environment, August 3-31st 2020
«Not that we were given an explanation for the scent of flowers…»
With this verse (translation) from the Dialogues of Nikos Karouzos, the known local poet and writer, organized by the Municipality of Nafplio, 14 contemporary artists exhibit their works on the street throughout August 2020!
They appropriate the public space on the pedestrian street of Vassileos Konstantinou in Nafplio old town, to attempt a representation of the interplay of natural and urban landscape, through an art that is open and accessible to all.
The interest lies in the emotional ability of art to understand and interpret the choices of man, which concern the construction of his social space, but also the impasses that are created, when these choices are imposed by modern conditions of massification, in contrast to man's deep, primal need for harmonious coexistence with the natural environment.

Did you know that?
The Municipality of Nafplio makes efforts for the preservation of the natural environment and the development of activities around it, which will bring the citizens, as much as possible, close to nature and to man himself, as an integral part of it. As the Mayor of Nafplio Mr. Dimitris Kostouros points out: "Art and culture become a tool in understanding the environment and approaching it from an artistic point of view, highlighting the weaknesses, but also the will of man to feel part of nature again and not acting against it."
